Prayer-Walking Time #41: Michael's New Place + Tera-machi

(Thank you to Lauren for the photo.) As the mornings and evenings turn cooler in the Northern Hemisphere, shifts are happening in various ways. One change for Kanazawa is that our praying friend, Michael, has moved to a new apartment in Tera-machi (Temple Town), a neighborhood full of Buddhist temples, a main road of shops, clinics, and restaurants, and sometimes Japanese and foreign tourists coming to view the temples. Michael's new digs are on this main thoroughfare, directly across the street from where my adopted Japanese grandma, Yoko Dohi, used to live and pray for the community. It's a lovely little area of Kanazawa. Lauren, Michael, Stephen, and I started with this new-home liturgy in Michael's living room, then moved outside to pray for a park across the street diagonally from Michael's building, then the parking lot of a Family Mart a few blocks away, which is a hub in the neighborhood. Bridget Is Home in Kenya: A Total Miracle!

(Bridget at her going-away party at our house about a month ago. The graduation cap was photoshopped in with an app! That celebration was all she got here in Japan because of the coronavirus and lack of graduation ceremony at Kanazawa University.) Dear friends, thank you for praying for my prayer-walking friend Bridget as she attempted to get back to Kenya this past week. She had no choice about when to travel because she just now finished up her master's degree program here in Kanazawa. It seemed to be bad timing, but God worked it out in the end. When Bridget left Kanazawa last Monday, I started praying--I didn't know at the time what a physical and spiritual battle it would actually be. And after 48 hours of chaos, she made it into Kenya just before they closed the borders even to their own citizens. Bridget is now in a government quarantine facility, escorted by police from the airport, for 14 days, but she will be able to travel to her hometown after that and finally

Prayer Walking in My Mind

Last night I had a little bit of trouble falling asleep, and God led me, in my mind, through all the streets in the areas of Katamachi and Kohrinbo in Kanazawa where my friend Sophia and I usually prayer walk to fight against human trafficking. I prayed as God led, and I realized that we are truly warriors of light, wherever we are, when we are praying in Jesus' name.
