Prayer-Walking Time #35: 5 for 35

There were five of us tonight for prayer walking, and a big welcome to Eri and Leo, both of whom came for the first time. It was wonderful having them along with Michael, Stephen, and me.

I think it must be because of the three-day weekend (Monday is a national holiday in Japan---Sports Day), Kanazawa was hopping with people tonight! And of course, many of them were bar-hopping men. (Scroll down to see the name of one of the bars, which doesn't try to hide its purpose.)

Walking around Katamachi and Kohrinbo, we stopped near this bridge over the Sai River to pray for each other and for the city. I felt like the bridge was a good image of Jesus, who is our Bridge from darkness to light. He's been in darkness, he's been tempted by darkness, and he knows and understands our struggles and pain.

A little hotel had this cheerful sticker on the front window. Welcome to Kanazawa, Holy Spirit! We know You are here already and working even when we don't see it. How can we see your work and work with you? Thank you for leading us and welcoming us

Self-explanatory, I think.

We prayed in front of some "girl bars" and the infamous "Infomen" shop where men can go in and find the kind of girls they like. I did not feel heaven and earth move, but I trust that there was a shift.

As we were finishing up and walking back to the car, God answered one of my prayers, which was to please lead us to someone who needs help. There was a Filipina girl, probably young 20s, who was standing on the sidewalk in a very busy part of Katamachi and trying to sell little bags of chocolate cookies that she had put together. (I will call her R here.)

R is stuck in a tricky financial situation having been fired from being a hotel cleaner during Covid when they had no guests, now working night-shift at a bento factory, all while studying at a specialist school during the day to learn Japanese and nursing-home caregiving skills. We were able to pray right there with R on the spot, buy some cookies, and I gave her my email address. I do hope she gets in touch---I would like to help gather a support group around her before anyone dodgy decides to do the opposite.
