Jackie Pullinger, a missionary from the UK to Hong Kong (she arrived there in 1966 at the age of twenty!), has an autobiography called Chasing the Dragon, which Stephen is currently reading to our sons. "Chasing the dragon" is what drug addicts in Hong Kong call getting their next high.
The book is a powerful testimony of God's healing grace. (Just a little warning: I think Stephen is editing some of the more intense descriptions out for the boys. But most of it is just right for sharing God's miraculous works with them.) It's hitting me hard, especially the bits about the young sex slaves--it makes me want to get out and do more prayer walking here. It might be more sanitized here (at least the outward appearance of it) in our city of Kanazawa, but it's there.
