Marieke Venter: "Human Trafficking and the Church"

If you have thirty-six minutes to watch or listen to this YouTube presentation by Marieke Venter in South Africa, please do. She talks about human trafficking, a few stories specific to South Africa, Jesus' call for freedom for the captives, why the Church should be involved, and how the Church can proceed in this ministry.

My favorite quotes from the presentation are about prayer. Marieke Venter says, "Prayer is central and foundational to all Christian service and has been named as the bedrock of every effort of Christians to work for justice."

She quotes Walter Brueggemann from his book Interrupting Silence: "Prayer is the refusal to settle for what is."

And so we keep on with the prayer walking and asking Jesus to interrupt the evil of human trafficking in Kanazawa and the world.
