Prayer-Walking Times #28 and #29 + International Justice Mission Australia's Freedom Sunday on 9/25/2020 + Nozomi Project's "Holding Hope" Jewelry Line
Our prayer walking has been sporadic this summer and fall, but that doesn't mean we haven't been praying or caring. #28 was on August 29, and we stopped here in front of Club Universe, which advertises that they have foreign women. This is one of our usual stops...
As we stood in front of Club Universe praying, we prayed for the line of taxis in front of the building and for the taxi drivers to be able to help women who go in and out of there. Then I noticed the name of some of the taxis: Mamoru Taxi. Mamoru can mean "to take care of" or "protect," so we prayed that if possible, the taxi drivers' eyes could be opened to what's going on and they'd be able to help protect those who ride in their taxis who may be vulnerable to trafficking or are being trafficked.
September 25 was International Justice Mission Australia's "Freedom Sunday" (though they usually do it in person on a Sunday, this year was on a Friday on Zoom), and I really appreciated their message and mission for God's heart for those who are trapped around the world. A pastor spoke about pursuing justice as the calling for God's people, and he quoted Steve Baird when he said, "Turn up and speak." God called the Israelites to answer the cries for justice from those nations around them and he calls us to focus on the weak and not the strong. In II Kings, there was a widow whose two sons were going to be enslaved, so God canceled her debts by having Elisha be a conduit of His provision (her empty jars were miraculously filled with olive oil for her to sell). The curse of slavery was broken.
In other news, my friend Jasmine got online and ordered me a beautiful Nozomi Project "Holding Hope" necklace, and Nozomi donates $2 of each order in this line to help stop human trafficking in Japan. This is definitely going to be my prayer-walking necklace from now on!
