Here's what Kiran Young Wimberly (of the Corymeela community in Ireland) wrote in her latest email newsletter:
Dear friends,
Have you ever noticed how movement can open up new space for prayer?
For some, stretching while praying can release tension and help the body settle into stillness. For others, walking becomes a moving meditation ~ whether on a trail, through a city street, or along a familiar daily route. And then there are pilgrimages, big or small, where each step becomes prayer, and the journey itself transforms us.
Movement doesn’t have to be separate from prayer. It can become prayer.
Next time you stretch, walk, or set out on a journey, try carrying a prayer with you. You may find that your body and spirit move together in surprising ways.
Blessings,
Kiran
